Who we are
The White Rock and Surrey Writers' Club is a group of professional and amateur writers in the metro Vancouver area, who meet to offer support and improve our writing skills. We meet at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, except July/August/December, at the White Rock Library, 15342 Buena Vista Avenue, White Rock, British Columbia, Canada. Members read their poetry and prose, and offer friendly critiques. Occasionally special guests are invited to make presentations.
We actively strive to be a "hate speech free zone." Readings or comments with sexist, racist, or other prejudicial or hateful comments toward others are not welcome. People are invited to "leave hate at the door."
Many members participate at literary open mics, and support other writers showcasing their work. Check out Our Members' Writing for some of our success stories. We began filming public readings of members and other writers on our Youtube channel in 2017. To help everyone access the many opportunities in our area, we maintain an ongoing list of local literary events.
